Cultural Week

Posted by Lbsim Alumni Foundation in LBSIM Alumni

“Culture is the sum of all the forms of art, of love and of thought, which, in the course of centuries, have enabled man to be less enslaved.”

With the above thought in the mind, LBSians lived up to the tradition of celebrating the ‘Cultural Week’ with full zest and fervour. The students had a six days extravaganza which was enthusiastically awaited by the freshers, since the day they joined the institute. The whole week was jampacked with the fun filled activities when they could actually let our hair down and become a part of the frenzied, intellectually stimulating LBSian madness.

The week was flagged of by the “Ethnic Day”, which saw the campus with students, dressed in costumes of different states of India. The campus was visible in vivid flavours, hues, shades and colours which were reflected in the myriad of performances by the students at the end of the day.

Freshers Party,2010

Posted by Lbsim Alumni Foundation in LBSIM Alumni Foundation

For the 180 odd first year students that begin a new phase of their academic lives at LBSIM, Friday night was a watershed event. And here I mean it literally J What started to mark the welcome party for the 2010-2012 batch ended into a full fledged natural rain dance party.

The party organised at ‘Gokul Gardens manifested youth and enthusiasm at its full flow. With a pulsating ambience, flashing lights and foot tapping music, began the fresher’s party with a difference. The excitement augmented to a joyful high when the Professors themselves joined the festivities with students on the dance floor. And as the mercury began to rise, the dance floor was left open for some uninhibited exuberance.

Seniors looked on with pride and a hint of reminiscence, remembering similar moments not too far ago. But nothing left them far behind here. They jumped in with equal excitement and vigor, diluting any line of difference between the level of Energy and enthusiasm of the fresher’s and them.

CHANGE: The Invincible Part of the Cycle of Life!

Posted by Lbsim Alumni Foundation in LBSIM

Lbsim Alumni Foundation

When you are in school you have God like complex & say to yourself - “One day I will conquer this World”. You just can’t wait to get out of school. But once you start working- Oh! Oh! Reality hits you. Soon you are bored of work & need a CHANGE (Obama’s favourite word). Your parents’ nag you to get married and you say to yourself may be this is the CHANGE I need. You get married but then honeymoon phase wears out and you tell yourself may be motherhood/fatherhood is the CHANGE I need. You love it for a while but you are bored again.

You again say to yourself may be having a new car will CHANGE things. You get yourself a car and name it “The Black Beauty” or something weird. You refuse to tell your spouse why you named it like that and secretly enjoy that your spouse is going nuts thinking who “The Black Beauty” was.

Soon your life revolves around your new car and worrying about children’s future. As soon you children’s work life gets settled down you need CHANGE again. So you start nagging your children to get married & tell yourself “Shit I am acting like my own mother or father or brother”. Finally your children give in to your demands. Then surprise! surprise! - you are tired of your son-in-laws & daughter-in-laws. You need a CHANGE again and you so want to fix all the mistakes that you made with your children. So you nag your children to have children.
As soon as you have your grandchildren you drive the whole world nuts by telling them their stories & everyone is assured that they will get a Christmas card with your grandchildren’s picture on it. You tell your co-workers how adorable your grandchildren are but unlike you the whole world thinks your grandchildren are maniacs & need to see a child psychologist. Let me add: you always think your grandchildren are pale even if they are obese.

A fairy Tale Life

Posted by Lbsim Alumni Foundation in Untagged

All i want is to live a fairy tale life,
where most important thing is a big smile.

Wanna be so beautiful like Snow White,
flying like Tinkabell in the big blue sky.

All to be worried is honey like Pooh,
and yeah caring friends like him too.

Partners like Magic Carpet and Genie are with Aladdin,
what is better than a family like Mogli, so caring.

I don't want to take my next breathe in this pollution,
a little house and beautiful forest with 7 dwarfs will be awesome.

A morning without worrying how many things to be done,
wanna slow down a bit in this running race of human.

There is no word like love is in existence it seems,
standing on the balcony like Rapunzale, am waiting for my prince.

A prince who saves Cindrella from cruel people,
everyone today is so selfish like her step sisters.

Fed up of living life with tensions every second,
waiting for my fairy tale to begin.

dreamy dreamy day for whole day and not just for night,
All i want is to live a fairy tale life....
All i want is to live a fairy tale life....

Just Another SALTy Sunday

It was an ordinary, regular Sunday evening for me, sipping coffee, Reading ‘Windmills of the gods’  and alongside glancing at the idiot box. The plot of the book was getting elating and invigorating, but all of a sudden something else caught my complete attention, something extremely intriguing and equally stimulating.

Those full size lips, in that acerbic tone taunted mordantly “So you think everyone is who they say they are?” Bright images of the teaser of Angelina Jolie’s next flick SALT emerged out of my ‘not so idiotic’ idiot box.

It was just a teaser, but that line she said, left me wondering . . .  Is everyone really who they say they are.

The Perfect Day

Got up in the morning, wid a smile on my face,
as if God had told me, "it's gonna be a beautiful day."
Opened the tap and there was no water,
wat a chilling day, no need to take a shower.
Looked for breakfast, but no sugar for tea,
thank God for saving me from some more calories.
stepped out for work, but the car wasn't workin,
got an opportunity of makin an attempt of saving environment frm global warming.
Took a bus and reached office late,
felt proud knowing, in my absence, how many things had to wait.
Boss called up and penalized with more work and less tym,
got one more chance to prove myself wid dose files.
Stretched at office, walked out at late hours,
got a lift frm seniors in their big and elite cars.
Had to walk through two roads, from where they dropped me,
ohkk i cud look around which neighbours were worth staring.
Reachd home tired and no gas to cook food,
at last pizza party, God saved me from some more work.
Pizza reachd late and wasnt really hot,
I didnt have to pay anythin, so no money loss.
At last i got into my bed for sleeping,
thankd God for one more beautiful day, for Moon and Sun shining.
Everything went right and it was a great day,
wake me again tomorrow wid a smile on my face.......

My Experience At LBSIM

When I step foot in this institute for the very first time, I had never imagined that this would be the beginning of one exhilarating journey. But, very soon I realized that LBSIM is not just a name but a synonym for Confidence, opportunities, motivation, passion, vigor and the list is never ending.

For the first time in my life I came across a plethora of opportunities, with a chance to learn at each and every step. LBSIM has provided me with a platform from where I can see things with a new perspective, as I had never seem them before. It has imbibed a source of never ending self-motivation which keeps on telling me “AIM HIGH” and thus I have developed a feeling that “If you dream, then u can transform those dreams into reality”.

Today, in the second year of my life at LBSIM, I can proudly say that I have spent the best time of my life and the experience just keeps getting better and better for me with each passing day. I thank all the faculty members for guiding me, all of my batch mates and seniors for supporting me at every step of this momentous journey.

Life

Posted by Lbsim Alumni Foundation in LBSIM

Lbsim Alumni Foundation

There were days when I used to fly,
And there were days when I used to cry,
But now I don't get much time to do either,
It's time to prove to the world that I'm a fighter.
Now-a-days life is too busy,
A lot is at stake,
And my future looks dizzy.

I came into this world,
Like an emerald.
Now its time to become a star,
To live in fancy houses,
And to have a sports car.
But it isn’t easy,
After all, the road to success is too busy.
One thing’s for sure,
I am not gonna give up,
I am ready to compete,
I am all charged up.
I might have to take some risks,
But I fancy my chances.
I am ready for all the hard work,
And to deal with all the circumstances.
My journey is long,
And my destination is nowhere near.
I have to stay brave,
There’s no room for fear

Traditional Day : July 26,2010

Posted by Lbsim Alumni Foundation in LBSIM

This Monday the institute was resplendent with vivid colours. It was the first day of the much anticipated cultural week. After days of discussions and preparation, the first year students were ready to show their ingenuity and boy, ‘we’ did not disappoint. A pat on the back for us first years. Traditional costumes from all parts of India were visible on the campus.

My entire weekend had gone into arranging clothes for day. After the ‘draining’ conference on Saturday, I was looking forward to a lazy Sunday, but it was not to be. Sunday sprinted past me-a la Usain Bolt. The entire day went in getting ethnic clothes. So, came Monday and all of us stepped out our respective rooms in traditional glory. I had worn a Bengali dhoti and I am eternally grateful to the person, who came up with the idea of readymade/ pre-tied dhoti. Still, getting on the bike was an interesting exercise; to say the least.
